Philippe Ferro has had the distinction of receiving unanimous first prizes in flute and chamber music from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris and first prize in the class of Jean-Sébastien Béreau. He went on, in 1992, to become conductor of the Wind Band of Centre Region, and at the same time was appointed first flute in the Poitou-Charentes Regional Orchestra. His diverse areas of expertise have led him to perform in countries like France, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Greece and Vietnam, to name just a few.
Holder of teaching certificates in flute, orchestral conducting and instrumental group conducting, he teaches chamber music and is responsible for orchestral teaching in the Conservatoire National of the Region of Tours.
He was appointed conductor of the Wind Band of the Gardiens de la Paix of the Paris Police Prefecture in December 2000.
