Gérard Occello, After finishing his studies of cornet at the Conservatoire de musique de Menton with a diploma, Gérard Occello turns to the trumpet. He enters the Marseille Conservatory where he obtains in 1987 the grand prix for trumpet, and in 1991 the grand prix for cornet.
While perfectioning his skills with the greatest of his art (Maurice André, Thierry Caens, Eric Aubier), he participates in numerous national and international contests winning prizes: festival for young soloists in Paris, grand prix André Jolivet, International festival of chamber music in Klingenthal (trumpet and classical accordion), national contest of the Lion’s Club. The composer M. Ohana gets aware of him and he asks him to record part of his works.
He teaches actuallly at the Conservatories of Aubagne and Martigues in Southern France. He performs as a soloist with the Ensemble Télémaque which promotes and gives first performances of music of the 20th and 21st century and, besides performing as a concertist, is a founding member of the wind quintet Mistral.
